Stifling Heat and Humidity Persist through Midweek

Crossroads Nears Heat Advisory Criteria

Copious Gulf moisture trapped underneath an upper level ridge, combined with downward vertical motion in the atmosphere, have generated heat indices between 105 and 115 over the Crossroads late today. As a result, a heat advisory is in effect until 7 pm for the northeast Crossroads, including Jackson and Matagorda Counties. Stuffy nights and sweltering afternoons should continue through Thursday, but increasing rain chances associated with a tropical system will affect the region later in the week. Rain chances ramp up over the weekend, but that is very dependent on the development and ultimate motion of the potential tropical system. Expected highs in the middle 90s to near 100, with lows in the middle to upper 70s.
