State Senator Lucio and local church offer free meals to community

Our Lady of Sorrow served hot meals and supplies today, bringing in residents and volunteers to help and even a state senator.

The church, along with Summaritian’s Purse and Habitat for Humanity, provided supplies to Victoria residents in need, including water and non perishable food. Volunteers from Taco Palenque and Spi town also provided warm meals for guests in attendance. State senator Eddie Lucio also stopped by to volunteer his time and to share words with Victorians. Even though he doesn’t serve Victoria, Lucio believes its important to help out fellow Texans.

“So we’re about thirty, thirty-two volunteers right now from the valley, and I’m very proud of them. I’m happy to have an opportunity to do what we do. We should with our neighbors. We should be a good neighbor. I’ve always said that Texas is one big happy family and we need to prove that.” said the state senator.

The church will be open tomorrow and Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner and will continue to hand out supplies throughout the week.
