State prison chapel volunteers host charity golf tournament

VICTORIA, Texas – Volunteers part of the Stevenson Unit Chapel Fund invite the public to take part in a golf tournament Thursday, Oct. 28. The tournament will be at the Victoria Country Club and will help the organization to build a building where they can teach offenders how to better themselves.

“It’s difficult for these offenders, once they are released on parole, and believe me, just about all of them will be released back into the general public,” said Les Rabke, a Stevenson Unit Chapel volunteer. “The problem is without any general education while they are in there it makes it difficult for them to break free of the cycle of incarceration.”
