VICTORIA, Texas - Adrian Rigby and UHV soccer couldn't have asked for a better day for their Elite ID camp.
Under beautiful, spring-like conditions at the UHV practice field, the Jaguars held their men's Elite ID camp on Sunday, providing players around the state to showcase their skills for Rigby and a pair of other coaches.
The university invited 50 high school and junior college players to the event, most of them from Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and the Valley. The day included technical drills and training in the morning, followed by a campus tour before playing full-strength scrimmages in the afternoon session.
"When they go to showcases, a coach may be able to watch them play for 45 minutes then go to another game," said UHV assistant George Kee. "But an event like this, we're able to see them play five or six hours straight."
UHV plans to hold another Elite ID camp in August, before their 2019 season begins.
