SHINER, Texas - Longtime Comanche Daniel Boedeker isn't leaving anytime soon.
Shiner ISD superintendent Trey Lawrence confirmed Tuesday that Boedeker has been promoted to Athletic Director and head football coach. The Shiner resident has been a coach with the program for 20 years, winning state titles there first as a baseball player, then as an assistant baseball coach and head baseball coach. His last victories at state came in 2004.
Boedeker will succeed Steven Cerny, who is retiring as athletic director and head football coach after 17 seasons with the program. Cerny coached Shiner to state baseball titles in 1992 and 2002, the state football crown in 2004, and to back-to-back state softball titles in 2015 and 2016.
