Victoria, Texas -
Several area high school softball seniors got rained out of an All-Star game here Thursday night.
But three of those All-Stars still have another big game to play Sunday. It's the Coastal Bend Coaches Association Softball All-Star game. Kaylynn Franklin of East will be on Team Caballero along with Calhoun's Madison Escobar and Zoe Flores; Maraya Guzman of Cuero and Kassidy Nicholson of Goliad; rained out Thursday night, but they will play on Team Lentz Sunday along with Nicholson's Tigerette teammate, Maddie Council. I talked with Kaylynn Franklin, Maraya Guzman and Kassidy Nicholson.
Said Nicholson, "It's awesome. It's just getting me ready for that college experience. I've been working very hard every day, not taking any days off in the weight room and on the field and in the batting cages."
Said Guzman, "It's an honor. It's so much getting to play with all of my friends from surrounding areas even though we're not playing with my school anymore. So many friends get together to play this game. It's awesome, it's a lot of fun."
Said Franklin, "It feels good to play with the people on my team and people from surrounding counties. We play Select ball with each other. It's good to see them again."
The Coastal Bend Coaches Association Softball All-Star game will be Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at the Cabaniss softball field in Corpus Christi.
