Victoria, Texas - Our Athletes Of The Week are Krista McNary and Brooke Warzecha.
Krista McNary and Brooke Warzecha are used to flying high on the trampoline. These two Victoria Gymagic teenagers are also used to flying high in a jet over the Atlantic Ocean. Last fall, McNary, a sophomore at East, and Warzecha, a freshman at Industrial, competed at the World Age Group Games in Russia. This week they are in Spain for the Spanish Invitational. These two are part of a group of four Junior Elite Americans picked for this competition.
Said Warzecha, "It's still as nerve-wracking and stressful. It's a little easier because we know how to prepare and train and know how to get our minds ready."
Said McNary, "It's a great experience to go. Now you know who your competition will be in Spain. It's just great so see all the new places."
Victoria Gymagic owner Ashten Linney, going to Spain as a national team coaching staff member for the first time.
"It's a huge honor for myself. But more than that, I'm excited to watch the girls compete in this international competition. It'll be my first time to see them in this arena."
After they get there, how do they focus on gold?
Said Warzecha, "Prayer. I leave it to the Lord. The coaches help me and I do a lot of mental training. It helps to calm myself."
Said McNary, "I just have a goal in mind and I just try to achieve the goal the best I can."
Said Linney, "We've had kids on USA national team for ten plus years. This is just us keeping that legacy going."
