Special Report From STJ Soccer Player At Women’s World Cup In France
Jillian Robles Looks Back, Looks Ahead
Paris, France — Team USA, just one win away from their second straight Women’s World Cup championship.
Jillian Robles, STJ girls soccer goalkeeper, has been at the last four U.S. World Cup games in France. She gives this report on their most recent win, last Tuesday in the semifinals in Lyon against England, and she looks ahead to Sunday morning’s championship match against the Netherlands in Lyon. Jillian will be there for that history, and here are her thoughts about all that.
“I think it was another well played game by both the USA and England. Christen Press starting in place of Rapinoe and scoring the first goal of the game within the first 10 minutes really set the tone for the game. It brought a lot of energy and excitement to both the players and the fans. Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher had a fantastic game. Her fantastic penalty kick save greatly helped secure the USA a spot in the World Cup finals. We play Netherlands on Sunday in the World Cup Final and it’s going to be a great game! Both teams are going to be very well prepared and ready to claim the title of World Cup Champions.”
USA vs. the Netherlands can be seen on Fox 19 and our Telemundo Sunday morning at 10:00.
