Snake Bites on the Rise in the Crossroads

“Its that time of the year and it’s dangerous to be around here,” Johnson said.

The weather is getting warmer and it’s a little more risky to take a walk down by the river, or even in your own yard. Shannon Sawyer commented on our Facebook page letting us know she was bit by a Copperhead snake. All four of the venomous snakes: Coral, Copperhead, Rattlesnake and Water Moccasin all call Texas home. All of these snakes live in various environments, but Sawyer lives in Goliad County. This is just the beginning of the time of year when snakes will be slithering around the Crossroads, make sure to keep an eye out. Local doctors say if you’ve been bitten by a snake call for an ambulance or go to the emergency room as soon as possible.
