Smith Elementary celebrate Black History Month in Victoria
VICTORIA, Texas — As Black History month comes to an end, Smith Elementary school performed its black history celebration.
Several special guests spoke throughout the ceremony.
During the festival, children displayed their appreciation through singing, praise, dancing and art.
Teachers were heavily involved in creating unique masterpieces throughout the school to represent Black History month.
“Black History in itself means a lot to me because of background and culture but Black History is American History and we want to share culture and share experiences with everyone here at Smith Elementary School,” explained Assistant Principal Sharla Williams.
The Black History celebration was very special because its Smith Elementary’s first year having a program for African American history.
Following the celebration, the students experienced a living museum.
The exhibit featured local African Americans who made a difference in Victoria, Texas.
