Skateworld reopens Friday
Skateworld returns for families to enjoy safely
VICTORIA,Texas–Skateworld first opened its doors here in Victoria in 1978, and since then children and families have rolled in.
After closing down because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Skateworld could have reopened on May 22nd, but they wanted to be extra vigilant and careful. They waited until June 5th to invite all the skaters back in by taking caution. Skateworld manager, Raymond Garza, is keeping the area clean for the community.
“We provide the service here for the youth of Victoria that has benefited the youth for many, many years. So being able to open again, I think a lot of the kids were missing that,” said Garza.
Skateworld now disinfects not just the inside but the outside of the skates, including the laces. They also disinfect surfaces, tables, benches, walls and all that is prone to being touched. They try to disinfect every 30 minutes. The skating rink is very large making it easy for skaters to practice social distancing on the floor.
“We’ve always been a place where families could come out and have a safe place for kids to skate and have fun and socialize,” continued Garza.
Skateworld started getting calls may 22nd from skaters eager to return. Now the time is finally here, and it’s exciting for the community.
This weekend is the return of Skateworld with many safety measures put in place. So make sure to tie up those laces and enter the rink.
