Shiner Football Makes Special State List

Comanches Fourth In Scoring In State

An area high school football team was one of the highest scoring teams in the state last season.

According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Shiner was the fourth highest scoring in the state, all classifications, averaging 55.6 points per game. The Comanches were led by honorable mention All-State running back Donyai Taylor. The UTSA signee rushed for almost 17 hundred yards and 31 touchdowns last season. Shiner made it to the 2A Division I regionals before losing to eventual state champion Refugio, 45-43. On the way to their state championship, the Bobcats also beat the second-highest scoring team in the state, San Augustine. The highest scoring team in state 5A, miller, district rivals of the Warriors and Titans.
