Shanquil Fennell has been announced V.I.S.D.’s new Director of Transportation

Victoria I.S.D. Board of Trustees approves selection of Fennell

VICTORIA, Texas – Shanquil Fennell has been approved by the Victoria I.S.D. Board of Trustees as the new Director of Transportation.

Fennell, with over a decade of transportation operations experience, has worked as the Transportation Program Manager for Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission most recently. There he assisted in policy, procedure, budgetary developments, implementation and management. In addition to those services, he created and applied strategic plans for transportation programs, including Victoria Transit, R-Transit and Enhanced Mobility for Elderly and Individuals with Disabilities. Fennell received a certificate in Office Management and is currently finishing an Associate Degree in Business Management from Victoria College.

“VISD is quite fortunate to acquire a transportation professional with the background of Shanquil Fennell,” said Dr. Stanton Lawrence, Assistant Superintendent of Administration. “With history as a VISD bus driver and bus driver trainer, he is simply returning home as the leader of the
department. He will be a great fit for the position and will move the department forward by working with existing staff to carry out the mission of our school district.”

Fennell’s new role as Director of Transportation will consist of administering the school bus transportation program and vehicle maintenance program. He will will also ensure the safe and efficient transportation department’s operation.

“I feel honored and excited to have been selected to serve as the next Director of Transportation for VISD,” said Mr. Fennell. “I look forward to serving the students and their families while working with other talented staff who are committed to doing the same, and I know there are wonderful staff members in the Transportation Department that I’m eager to work with to take services to the next level.”

Fennell, a member of the Texas Department of Transportation’s Transit Vehicle Specification Development Committee, will start his new role on June 14.
