Senior at West High School accused of assaulting a deputy

VICTORIA,Texas–Early Monday at West High School a student was arrested on campus after an  officer was forced to draw his weapon on that student. Authorities say 18-year old Noel Isaiah De La Garza assaulted the school resource deputy with his vehicle before hitting another vehicle. De La Garza was suspended earlier in the day. School deputies say De La Garza resisted and so a taser was deployed and he was taken into custody.

One senior spoke to us about what she witnessed happening during that time.

“I was trying to leave school because I leave early and they just told me not to go out. They were like don’t go out and I was like why and they were like something is happening in the parking lot. So I was wondering what was going on and some people were like oh somebody brought stuff to school. And so I was like oh it’s a random teen doing that again but no it was actually actually a person I knew doing all that stuff. I didn’t know until a while ago so I’m pretty shocked about that,” said Kathryn Espindola.

The students had two other emergency incidents during the day.

“We had to be like on a silent lock down, so we just stood there we couldn’t move or anything so we were just kinda freaked out,” continued Espindola.

De La Garza is charged with burglary of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault on a public servant and resisting arrest.
