Semi-Pro Victoria Hurricanes to host San Antonio Titans
VICTORIA, Texas — Are you ready for some semi-pro football? If you are, there is a football game Saturday evening at Memorial Stadium featuring a Victoria team.
The Victoria Hurricanes are 3-1 on the year and will be playing the San Antonio Titans. The Hurricanes have been around for 12 years and are a semi-pro league. The league is titled the Big South Texas Football League and is comprised of 24 team from all around Texas including, Houston, Dallas, Austin and other cities like Victoria. The last time the Hurricanes won the state title was in 2017. Victoria East graduate Kendre Franklin has been playing on the team for three years and has four interceptions in four games and is hoping to see a big crowed tomorrow night.
It feels good to show the people I can still play and put on for Victoria.
A rookie of the year candidate from Gonzalez, Arbreyon Dora, was in high school last year. He plays corner back and wide receiver. Dora joined the team because of an interesting situation and wanted to prove to himself that he could play at the next level.
I just saw them on Facebook and I wanted to play again, said Dora. I didn’t go to college so I was just looking to play again.
Kick-off for the game is at 6:00 p.m., gates open at Memorial Stadium at 5:00 pm. Children ages 12 and under are free and everyone else is $10 dollars.
