Schools delay start date after Harvey damage

Start of school delayed until Sept. 11 for students; CCISD staff returns Sept. 6

Upon further assessment of Calhoun County ISD facilities, post-Hurricane Harvey, additional repairs involving HVAC, technology, phone and campus resources will be required before we are ready for our students’ return.

A decision has been made to delay the first day of class for students until Monday, Sept. 11. Calhoun County ISD employees, that are able to return to work, will have access to their campus on Wednesday, Sept. 6 to prepare for this school year. Please see revised schedule below:

Wednesday, Sept. 6: Calhoun County ISD employees, that are able to return, are scheduled to report for duty at their assigned campus.

Monday, Sept. 11: Students are scheduled to start class, one hour later than the normal, published schedule. Bus routes will run at a one-hour delayed schedule on Sept. 11, to ensure driver visibility. (For example, if your child’s bus would normally pick them up at 7 a.m., one the first day, it will pick your child up at 8 a.m. A regular bus schedule will resume Sept. 12.) Breakfast will not be served on campuses on Sept. 11, but lunch will. All food service operations will resume as normal on Sept. 12. Calhoun County ISD’s Child Nutrition Dept., and partner Sodexo, will provide free school meals (breakfast and lunch) to enrolled students through the month of September).

Austwell-Tivoli ISD starts on September 11th.
