Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Pelt Crossroads Again this Afternoon

Partly Cloudy, Breezy and Humid Tonight

The last afternoon with scattered showers and thunderstorms is underway over the Crossroads before a massive upper level ridge builds over the region. Decent but localized rainfall late today will do little to improve overall area dryness, but it at least provides brief cooling. After today, the upper ridge shuts down rain chances and increases afternoon temperatures to near or above 100 degrees. That, when combined with abundant Gulf humidity, will bring heat indices into the Heat Advisory criteria for the next week or so. Overnight lows will only drop to around 80 degrees, so very little nocturnal relief is anticipated for those at risk.
