Salvation Army of Victoria canned goods drive
A competition among VISD schools
VICTORIA, Texas—For the past three years, the Salvation Army of Victoria has put on a canned good drive, with VISD schools in competition with each other to see who can donate the most canned goods.
O’Connor Magnet School wins the trophy. They donated 2,139 pounds of canned goods. On the left is O’Connor Magnet School Principal Fonna Hughes, and Assistant Principal Ericka Barr is on the right. Salvation Army of Victoria commanding officer Captain Kenny Jones told me the food is collected by the schools via the students. He picks them up weekly. The competition ran from October 3-November 3, and VISD schools donated 8,459 pounds of canned goods. Aloe Elementary was second, Vickers Elementary was third.
