Salvation Army makes Christmas Kettle changes
Kettle sponsorships are now available locally
For the first time in 130 years, the Salvation Army is starting its annual holiday fundraising campaign early across the country in order to rescue Christmas.
The Salvation Army of Victoria County’s Red Kettle Campaign is looking for sponsors. They are asking local businesses and individuals to sponsor kettles with financial gifts. Kettles could be sponsored for a day, a week, all kettles for a day, or an entire season of kettles could be sponsored here. The sponsors’ names will be placed on the kettles.
Said Salvation Army of Victoria County commanding officer Captain Kenny Jones, “We’re having to do a lot of change with what our Kettle workers are able to do, what they’re able to wear, what they’re able to touch or not able to touch, how close people can come to our Kettles. It’s kind of scary.”
The Salvation Army of Victoria County must raise 20 % of its entire budget through the kettle program to meet the needs of those struggling in the area.
