Run off race between Janak vs. Ohrt happening in May
More about Jason Ohrt
VICTORIA, Texas – Even though the election is over, the commissioner for precinct 2 position which originally had 4 candidates running has turned into a runoff race. Incumbent Kevin Janak is running against Jason Ohrt.
Ohrt is a Victoria native and said he’s been knocking on doors and talking to people living in this precinct about why he’s running for commissioner. While some are requesting for change, Ohrt says he isn’t stopping and wants to keep the momentum going until May.
“I was very excited. I was very, I was kind of overwhelmed because this is my first campaign. So, pretty much all the experiences were new to me. I was very blessed and very overwhelmed with the fact that enough folks believed in me to vote for me like that to where I was able to get 48 to 49 percent of the vote,” he said.
During the campaign, Ohrt said his business experience will help him, if he’s elected because he is used to dealing with budgets, infrastructure, and working with people. In addition, he appreciates getting calls and support from everyone. The runoff election will take place on Tuesday, may 24.
“Let’s just keep the momentum going, all the way until May,” he said.
