Rescheduled Cinco de Mayo celebration draws hundreds to downtown Victoria

VICTORIA, Texas –  Several thousand attended tonight’s Cinco de Mayo celebration, from wrestling to elote and live music from groups including Solido, la Calma, and Magnifico 7.

Cinco de Mayo celebrates the Mexican army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza, who is incidentally from Goliad.

The event was sponsored by Dos Equis, City of Victoria Parks and Recreation Department, and Magic 95.9 FM.
