Regional Airport anticipates financial gain from Skyway Airline
Skyway Airline is planned to join regional airport soon, in hopes of granting financial gain.
VICTORIA, Texas — A new airline service, Skyway, will join Victoria Regional Airport. They are a charter company in Costa Rica with a commitment to safety. Officials in the area hope that the number of passengers will increase, when Skyway begins to serve at the airport.
Lenny Llerena, Executive Director of Victoria Regional Airport, said “With the support of the community. We need the community to fly this airline, we need 10,000 or more enplanements every year, in order to meet the numbers of a 1 million dollar grant. Anytime you have 10,000 enplanements, the federal government will give this airport a 1 million dollar grant.”
If the goal is reached every year, then the airport will benefit financially from Skyway. Llerena also shared, “We’re about 57,000 from last year. So we are on our way up, back to the 10,000 enplanements.”
An enplanement is when a passenger departs from the airport, returning back to Victoria Regional Airport, from another airline does not count.
