Refugio prepares for Edna

CFL week three game

REFUGIO, TX–The Refugio Bobcats are going to be on the road as the Edna Cowboys host them on Friday night.

Refugio is coming off a win over the London Pirates in week two,  while Edna is currently undefeated and are coming off a win against the Bay City Blackcats. Refugio head coach Jason Herring knows that this game won’t come easy, and it will be a challenge.

“They (Edna) are very talented, they are way bigger than us. They average about 320-330 and we average about 190, so we’re going to have to use our quickness. We’re going to have to play good, sound fundamental football, and we’re gonna try to keep the ball away from their offense. We need long sustain drives and try to milk the clock a little bit.”

Herring said that the best teams can play 50/50. He plans on having to have both a running game and a throwing game.

Junior running back Kaleb Brown, will be facing Edna for his third year and he understands the impact of this game.

“It’s going to be really intense. We just got to be really physical. Do the little things right, win the turnover battle and just do the little things right.”

After losing their first game of the season, Refugio is looking to keep winning from here on out.
