Refugio Football Celebrates State Quarterfinal Win

Bobcats Dominate Holland

Thursday night, Refugio football took control of its 2A Division I state quarterfinal very early.

After one quarter in the Alamodome, the Bobcats led Holland, 28-0. Refugio went on to win 49-12. Our Athlete Of The Week, quarterback Austin Ochoa, ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more just in the first 12 minutes. Ochoa ended up accounting for five scores and 271 yards total offense. Two Bobcats told our Sean Coffey why they were so productive against a previously unbeaten Holland team.

Said Ochoa, “We have an amazing coaching staff and what they do, the game planning it starts Monday. And it just goes from there, and it just makes our offense unstoppable. “

Said receiver Antwaan Gross, “We just work together, since August. Austin knows how we play, and coach knows how we play. And he knows what plays to run, and he runs them, and we score. “

Next, Refugio will take on the winner of tonight’s game between Groveton and San Augustine in the state semifinals.
The next round for the Bobcats, tentatively set for next Thursday night at 7:00 at the Berry Center in Cypress.
