Refugio boys’ track & field team receive state rings

REFUGIO, Texas — The Refugio boys’ state track and field team received their rings in early October. The Bobcats won the class 2A state track and field meet held in Austin in May 2022 and the stars received their hardware. Nine of the athletes who competed in the state meet brought home medals, many were gold, and will now have a ring to add to their collection. Some of the top competitors were Ernest Campbell who won the 100 meter dash, Antwaan Gross won bronze in triple jump, Jordan Kelley helped in the relays, along with Campbell, Marvin Fox, and Jason Moore who broke a state record in the 4X 200 meter relay with a time of 1:28:09 seconds. The team was coached by first year coach Adam Spiegleman. The Refugio track and field team had not won the state title since 2001.
