Refugio Baseball’s Season Ends Early Friday

Regional Finals Go The Distance

Refugio baseball’s regional final series got to be longer than expected Thursday night.

It got so long, it ended at 1:00 Friday morning. The Bobcats’ season also ended at that time.

The Bobcats were scheduled to play game two against Big Sandy at 5:00 Thursday afternoon. But there were three severe weather delays and the game did not start until 7:00. Big Sandy then won game two, 6-3, to force a deciding game three. That game did not start until 10:00 Thursday night. Early Friday morning, Big Sandy won the deciding game three, 12-2, eliminating Refugio from the 2A baseball playoffs. It was only the second time Refugio had made it to the regeional baseball finals, and they are looking for their first berth in the state baseball tournament. Refugio’s graduation ceremony is Friday night.
