Ramp-construction work to take place on Jan. 5, weather permitting
Here are the details on the State Loop 463 relocation project
VICTORIA, Texas – On Wednesday, Jan. 5, Texas Steel Industrial Placing (TSIP) will begin ramp-construction work, weather permitting. This is a part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s State Loop 463 relocation project.
The project limits of this work are from 0.25 miles east of John Stockbauer Drive to 0.17 miles west of Salem Road. The purpose of the project is to construct freeway operational improvements, including:
- the construction of a ramp,
- pavement markings
- and signage.
TSIP was awarded the contractor with a bid of $642,089.92. The project will start on Jan. 4, and the tentative completion date is the end of March 2022.
Motorists should prepare for possible traffic delays. They are also urged to use caution when driving through the work zone and should keep the following tips in mind:
- Motorists should slow down and always follow posted work zone speed limits. They also need to keep in mind speeding is one of the major causes of work zone crashes, and traffic fines double in work zones.
- You should pay attention at all times. Workers and heavy equipment may only be a few feet from passing vehicles.
- Motorists also need to remain patient. Delays from roadway construction can be frustrating, but it only takes a few extra minutes to slow down for a work zone.
