Rain could turn to freezing rain overnight as temperatures continue to drop

VICTORIA, Texas- Tonight: Cloudy with a possible late night sprinkle or two as winds continue to be slightly breezy and temperatures stay below average cooling into the low 30’s.  Low: 32. Winds: N 10-15 mph. There is a 30 percent chance for rain and then maybe some freezing rain between 9 pm and 5 am.

Sunday:  Cloudy with breezy winds as rain chances increase later in the day while temperatures stay below average in the upper 30’s.  High: 37. Winds: NE 15/G20 mph. 60% chance for rain.

Sunday Night: Cloudy with freezing rain chances (freezing rain and sleet) and on the cold side with temps cooling into the upper teens.  Low: 18. Winds: N 20 mph. A 60% chance for freezing rain.

Monday: Early cloudy skies with the potential for sun later but with below average temperature’s only warming into the upper 20’s.  High: 28. Winds: NW 15-20/G30 mph. A 30% chance for sleet and snow showers.  Wind chills could feel like the teens or single digits.

Extended Forecast: Monday Night through Friday: Temperatures will be very cold through Thursday with highs in the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s.  Lows will be in the teens and 20’s with clouds starting to thin as the week moves along.  Sunday, Sunday Night, Early Monday and Wednesday and Wednesday Night are looking at freezing rain and snow chances.  Winds will be between 15-30 mph, which will keep wind chill temperatures down into 20’s and teens.  Looking ahead to Friday, Saturday and Sunday temperatures will warm into the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s respectively.

Synopsis: Storms push back into the Crossroads Saturday, Sunday and Monday looking to deliver rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow as temperatures continue to fall due to a cold Arctic front that will push down Sunday night dropping ambient temperatures into the teens.  Strong winds will keep wind chills in the 20’s and teens while Monday could be a tricky dangerous day with a wintry mix of precipitation (beginning Sunday and Sunday Evening) delivering icy conditions to the Crossroads.  Later in the week temperatures start to increase as warm moist air from the Gulf moves up from the south while the sun starts to appear again as well.  Temperatures will warm into the 40’s and 50’s Wednesday through Friday while next Saturday could see temperatures in the 60’s and even better on Sunday with temperatures in the 70’s.
