Extended forecast: Sunday through Friday: National Hurricane Center will be monitoring a low in the Gulf of Mexico that currently has a 10% of developing into a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours.  The low is expected to make landfall somewhere between Corpus Christi and Brownsville late Saturday.  The slow movement of this low along with plenty of available moisture in the atmosphere will keep our rain chances between 60-70% for the weekend, with higher chances along the coastal areas.  Our weather pattern shifts back to a more summerlike pattern with hot and humid conditions next week and a slight chance of rain in the afternoons. Afternoon heat index values will range from 101-105 with some higher values west of the Crossroads.  Winds will be generally SE 10-15.

Synopsis: A ridge will build in behind the retreating inverted trough and result

in a decrease in PWATs to near-normal values. Showers and

thunderstorms will be limited to the the afternoon sea breeze variety.

Temperatures will be on the cooler side on Sunday and Monday with

highs in the upper 80s to 90s. Temperatures will increase through

the week next week, with highs in the mid to upper 90s closer to the coast and

100-105 degrees further west. Heat Index values of 105 to 109 return

early in the week and will continue through Thursday..~ Scott
