Rain Chances Improving this Week; Tropics Remain Quiet

With a large ridge of upper level high pressure now displaced to our north, tropical easterly flow predominates across the Middle Texas Coast. This regime allows deep moisture and convective instability to generate isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon peak heat periods. Rain chances improve mid week and during the first of next week, when weak tropical waves move across the region from the Gulf of Mexico. Vertical wind shear will not allow any tropical development, but the rainfall will be most appreciated by farmers, ranchers, gardeners and river authorities.
