Rain and Thunderstorms Likely through Saturday; Scattered Storms Sunday and Monday
Abundant tropical moisture and upper level instability are combining with a coastal trough to bring widespread rain and thunderstorms to much of South and Southeast Texas for the next several days. Rainfall totals already have exceeded 5 inches along the immediate Middle Texas Coast, with lesser amounts inland. The wet pattern will remain in place going into the weekend; in fact, a tropical disturbance in the northwest Caribbean is moving in our direction and has a 50 percent chance of becoming a Depression as it moves into South Texas around Friday. We are monitoring this system closely for potential impact and possibility of intensification.
