Press briefing kicks off TAAF Winter Games

TAAF Winter Games open to public all weekend


VICTORIA, Texas – On Friday, Jan. 14, the city of Victoria held a press briefing to kick off the Texas Amateur Athletic Foundation winter games at the VISD Aquatic center. City council members support hosting these tournaments as they will have a positive impact towards the community’s local sports tourism, businesses, and economic development.

Mayor Jeff Bauknight shared a couple of friendly words during his welcoming speech.

“We look forward to welcoming these athletes to Victoria to showcase why we are the choice of sporting destination for Texas athletes. The games have full support of myself and city council. I also want to welcome all participants to our wonderful city. We hope you have a great time and enjoy not only the sports but the other great aspects of Victoria,” said Bauknight.

Other speakers were Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Kimberly Zygmant, Assistant Manager Darrek Farrell, and TAAF Executive Director Mark Lord. The tournaments are taking place at the Aquatics Center located at 1006 Sam Houston Drive and are open to the public all weekend.
