President Trump grants Governor Abbott’s disaster declaration
AUSTIN, Texas — On July 10th, 2019, Governor Abbott requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration for three counties in the Rio Grande Valley due to severe weather and flooding. A week later on July 17th, 2019, this request was granted by President Donald Trump.
This disaster declaration will provide individual assistance for those affected by the disastrous flooding that occurred in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties.
“I am grateful to the President and FEMA for granting Texas’ request for assistance following severe storms and flooding in the Valley,” said Governor Abbott. “The Lone Star State remains committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure Texans have the resources they need to recover from these storms as quickly as possible.”
Individual Assistance includes up to $34,000 per household for any damages sustained from the flooding. For more information on how to apply for Individual Assistance, residents of this three counties can call 1-800-621-FEMA or visit www.disasterassistance.gov
