Port Lavaca Police Department annual toy drive, Blue Santa, still taking toy donations

This year Blue Santa is expected to bring gifts to nearly 70 children.

CALHOUN COUNTY, Texas – The Port Lavaca Police Department’s annual toy donation drive, Blue Santa, almost didn’t happen this year but the community in Port Lavaca rallied together to make sure the toy donation event was still on, and now is in its final days of taking donations with Wednesday, December 15 being the final day to bring by gifts.

Blue Santa has been a staple in the Calhoun County community in years past that gets gifts to children who otherwise may not get anything for Christmas. If you wish to donate a toy you can simply drop it off at the Port Lavaca Police Department, or the Victoria Television Group.

Chief of Port Lavaca Police Colin Rangnow says that this year’s Blue Santa is helping out nearly 70 children.

“The community really pulled together to make sure Blue Santa got his sleigh fixed and we’re able to get everything accomplished. We have 70 plus kids that Blue Santa is going to deliver to, that’s a little over 30 plus families in the community which we’re all excited about,” says Chief Rangnow.

Wednesday, December 15 at 6 pm Blue Santa will host their wrapping event at Nautical Landings in Port Lavaca, this is where community members are invited to come help wrap all the gifts that Blue Santa will hand-deliver to the children on December 21.
