Port Lavaca hosts blood donation drives

The city held one Monday June 6 and will have another Wednesday June 8 at the Memorial Medical Center from 2 - 6:30 pm

PORT LAVACA, Texas – The City of Port Lavaca hosted a blood drive Monday, June 6 with the help of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center. Monday’s blood drive was at the Bauer Community Center in Port Lavaca. Tania French is the Events Coordinator for the city. She said that she and the Port Lavaca City Manager wanted to do a blood drive after the tragic events in Uvalde.

“We contacted The South Texas Blood Bank and they said, well, we already have two blood drives, regular blood drives in your area, but we could certainly do a third I don’t know how it will do but let’s do it because they explained that June, July, August are the times that blood donations are running a little low people, I guess don’t donate as frequently,” says French.

There will be another one this Wednesday, June 8 in Port Lavaca at the Memorial Medical from 2 pm to 6:30 pm. Early sign-ups are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.
