Partly Cloudy with Scattered Showers and Storms Today and Tuesday

Weak Tropical Wave Approaching Western Gulf

Daytime heating and sufficient Gulf moisture have allowed isolated showers and thunderstorms to develop over coastal regions late today, some even necessitating a Special Marine Warning for Matagorda Bay. The showers and storms will dissipate around sunset but return in greater amounts on Tuesday. A tropical wave in the western Gulf of Mexico is more than likely to develop into a Tropical Depression within 48 hours, but its direction of motion will take it, and the bulk its precipitation, well to our south. So, scattered showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday will diminish to isolated for Wednesday. Thereafter, upper level ridging shuts down rain chances and increases afternoon temperatures to near 100. That dry and hot regime will persist at least through the first of next week.
