Pack The Bus 2019 is underway

Crossroads, it’s that time of year again. It’s time to pack the bus.

Joe Farias, a Store Leader at H-E-B Plus, told us that our local H-E-B, “found out through Kidz Connection at Faith Family Church, that there was a need in the community to get school supplies to area students.”

He discovered there were, “a lot of students who didn’t have the supplies they needed to kick off the school year right.” This is what inspired them to, “put this event together as a community event to make sure [students] have the supplies they need to kick off the school year the right way.”

Local residents might be wondering how they can donate, so to help out the cause, there are two ways they can do so.

The first being that anyone can come to down to either H-E-B location and grab things off the shelf.

Easier than that, H-E-B has pre-made bags of school supplies that one can purchase, and it has everything the student who receives it will need.

You can donate at either H-E-B location in Victoria.

We caught up with retired school teacher, Mary Ann Payne, who bought a bag to donate. She says giving the students supplies is essential to their learning.

“I know it’s really important for kids to have supplies and have what they need to go to school. It enhances learning, and they feel wonderful about themselves,” says Payne.

H-E-B is partnering with Faith Family, and The Victoria Television Group.

Micheal Graff with Faith Family believes giving back to the next generation helps inspire them to shoot for the stars.

“You know, as they say, kids are our future, and education is important. We want to do everything we can to empower students to be able to succeed and believe it or not, school supplies are an important part of that,” Graff explained.

If your child is in need of school supplies, you can still sign up until Tuesday, August 6 th , at Faith Family Church.

Distribution will be on Saturday, August 10th from 9am-12pm in the church’s Next Generation Building.

If you weren’t able to make it out today, they will have volunteers in place to help you do so from 9am-5pm on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

However, you can still donate at either store until closing on Sunday night.
