Oppressive Heat and Humidity through Early Next Week; Rain Chance Midweek?
A massive upper level ridge continues to compress the atmosphere over Texas, causing extreme heat and trapping humidity to create a dangerous soup of heat indices between 105 and 115 degrees. Excessive Heat Warnings remain in place over North and Central Texas, with Heat Advisories over much of the remainder of the State. The Crossroads is nearing Heat Advisory criteria, and may enter that unfortunate club as early as Friday. By early next week, however, the core of the upper ridge begins to shift toward the Desert Southwest, placing us in a more favorable environment for isolated showers and thunderstorms by midweek.
