Only Isolated Showers This Afternoon; Much More Storminess Rest of Week
The approach of Tropical Storm Gordon threatens the northern Gulf Coast, but the Crossroads is well west of the system, placing us on its dry side. Typically, downward vertical motion (subsidence) can be associated with that configuration, and that process tends to repress shower and thunderstorm activity. Once Gordon makes landfall and moves well inland, we will see an increase in our rain and thunderstorm chances. So, Wednesday, through the weekend look fairly wet around here. Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin, Florence is now a Category 1 hurricane but is no threat to land.
