One taken to hospital after structure fire in Yorktown
YORKTOWN, Texas — Emergency first responders were dispatched to the White Top Motel located at 436 E. Main St. and Yorktown at approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning for a structure fire.
One of the duplex motel rooms was completely engulfed upon arrival.
The adjacent duplex motel room was unoccupied.
The occupant identified as Chad Broll of Yorktown was transported to San Antonio Medical Center in critical condition.
The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office in concert with the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
No other injuries were reported. The Yorktown VFD quickly extinguished the fire.
At this point, we do not want to make any early assumptions as to the cause of the fire.
We will follow the investigation process in order to make an accurate determination of this incident.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Broll and his family during this uncertain and challenging time.
