One Suspect Flees Scene after Narcotics Bust in DeWitt County
A suspect flees the scene after a narcotics bust in DeWitt County early Friday morning.
According to DeWitt County Sheriff Carl Bowen, On June 2, 2017 at about 1:40 AM units from the DeWitt County Sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at the 900 block of FM 953 between Cuero and Lindenau.
The search warrant was a result of ongoing narcotics investigations and this sale and delivery of promethazine with codeine syrup. Promethazine is a cough suppressant and antihistamine.
Codeine is used to treat mild-to-moderate levels of pain. The combination of the two is a powerful cough syrup that can be abused for its narcotics side effect.
Deputies recovered 6, 1 pint bottles of promethazine with codeine with an approximate street value of $300 per bottle.
Jose Mendez was arrested for possession/delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 3, over 400 g, a 1 st ° felony. He was transported to the DeWitt County jail and is currently awaiting arraignment.
A second subject at the scene fled on foot and warrants are currently being issued for his arrest.
