One Arrested in Standoff with VPD
VICTORIA, Texas — VPD is investigating a 61-year-old Victoria resident after a standoff that lasted over two hours on Friday night in the 100 block of Tampico Court.
Captain Elaine Moya said in a press release that the resident involved refused to listen to officers’ commands. For his safety, and the safety of the officers, the man was hit with a non-lethal 40mm launcher with a foam tip.
This allowed officers to take him into custody for a medical evaluation.
Charges in the investigation include animal cruelty and felony possession of a firearm.
A handgun in the resident’s possession was taken as evidence.
This was a joint effort between patrol officers, SWAT, and Hostage Negotiations.
We will follow up with more information as it becomes available.
