Omar Uresti Leads STPGA Championship After Two Rounds

VICTORIA, TEXAS (August 28, 2018) — Omar Uresti, PGA Life Member, fired 2-under par, 69, during Round Two of the 50 th Southern Texas PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car and OMEGA to be the lone the leader at 5-under par 137 heading into the final round of action.

Ben Willman, PGA Teaching Professional at Axis Golf Academy and Ben Kern, PGA Head Professional at Georgetown Country Club share possession of second place with a two-day total of 138 (-4). Kern and Willman shot the two best rounds of the day on Tuesday, carding a 67 and 68 respectively. Shadow Hawk Country Club’s PGA Assistant Professional Joe Mitchell sits two-strokes behind with a 140 (-2). Mitchell was formerly the Head Pro at the host course, Victoria Country Club, holding the position for six years. He was affiliated with the club in some capacity for over twenty years before making the move to Houston-area Shadow Hawk.

Casey Russell, Head Professional at The Club at Colony Creek, also remains in the top-10 after shooting a 2-over 73. Russell sits at 2-over 144 through two rounds.

Victoria Country Club is hosting the 54-hole stroke play event for all three rounds. The course is playing at 6,856-yards, par 71 for this week’s Championship.

The purse for the 50 th Southern Texas PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car and OMEGA is $42,000. The champion will take home $8,400.

The Final Round will commence on Wednesday, August 29 at 7:30 a.m. Uresti, Willman, and Kern will tee off at 9:30 a.m.
