Odem Waste Water Treatment Facility Operational

VICTORIA- On Tuesday city leaders held a grand opening ceremony for the $23 million dollar Odem Waste Water Treatment Facility. The new facility, which replaces the old Willow Street Plant, took nearly 12 years of planning and will be able to process 4.4 million gallons of waste water per day.

“There’s only so much water there not making any more of it. Were just using it over and over.” Said Victoria Public Works Director Lynn Short.

Short says in 2004 and 2005 the city reached waste water volume thresholds which prompted the city to begin the planning process for the new facility. Short also adds the new facility will address future growth in population and paves the way for economic development.
