Non-emergency Victoria County offices closed tomorrow
Too much ice on roadways
VICTORIA, Texas–County officials have decided to close non-emergency County offices for Tuesday, February 16th due to the winter weather emergency. Officials plan to reopen Wednesday morning weather permitting.
Victoria County’s weekly Commissioners Court meeting will be held Wednesday morning at 10am as previously posted.
According to County Judge Ben Zeller, this decision was based on the significant ice accumulation on local roadways and temperatures that are expected to remain below freezing until tomorrow afternoon. The situation may worsen as the sunlight this afternoon melts some ice, which will quickly re-freeze tonight creating an even more dangerous scenario tomorrow morning.
Additionally, periodic power outages that will likely continue throughout tonight and into tomorrow may cause issues for employees and the County’s ability to conduct business. Zeller advises everyone to stay safe and warm at home and please stay off the roads.
