YOAKUM, Texas - Yoakum officials determine alleged weapon found on the high school campus was not a firearm.Â
On Friday, March 24, Yoakum High School administration received a notification about a possible weapon found on the parking lot of the high school campus before the start of classes. After further investigation, school administrators along with the Yoakum Police Department determined the weapon in question was not a firearm, rather a plastic BB gun pistol.
Surveillance video review of the area revealed the object in question came off of a bumper of a vehicle while traveling through the campus. The object dd not belong to any student of Yoakum High school.Â
According to Yoakum ISD, all students and staff of Yoakum High School are safe. The Yoakum Police Department is continuing to investigate.Â
