Residents are urged to avoid downtown Houston

All highway and street access into and out of downtown  are currently closed. Those outside of downtown Houston are being asked to avoid traveling near the area through the night.

People in the impacted area should stay informed through official channels: radio stations 88.7FM or 740AM, local news stations, and monitoring official social media channels on Twitter and Facebook
