H-E-B to offer teacher appreciation savings in time for back to school

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - During the school year, teachers can never have enough glue, pencils, crayons and tissue.

To help Texas teachers stock up without breaking the bank, H-E-B will extend exciting back-to-school savings, helping educators stretch their dollars and gear up for the new school year with classroom supplies and other essentials.

Starting July 17, teachers across the Lone Star State can register to receive a coupon for 15 percent off school and office supplies as well as select household items.

Teachers at early childhood, pre-K and K-12 schools as well as authorized home school teachers are eligible to receive the coupon, which allows them to save up to $50. Coupons can be redeemed in-store from July 31 – August 13.

To get the coupon, teachers must sign up at heb.com/teachers by 11:59 p.m. on August 1. Once signup is complete, teachers will receive their coupon via email after their educator status is verified.

School and office supplies teachers can save on include pens, pencils, notebooks, binders, crayons, markers, colored pencils, highlighters, folders, paper, portfolios, arts supplies, glue, construction paper, dry erase, and office accessories.

Also included in this promotion are select household items such as disinfecting wipes, disinfectant sprays, hand sanitizer, paper towels, facial tissues, and food storage bags.

"During the school year, most teachers end up having to spend their own money on school supplies for their classrooms," said Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs. "Our goal is to relieve some of that burden and provide even more savings to our educators, helping them get what they need for the new school year. As a big supporter of education, H-E-B invests in our teachers, helping them teach and inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators right here in Texas."

Throughout the year, H-E-B proudly supports outstanding educators who dedicate themselves to making a difference in children's lives. From classroom to community, we give back over $10 million annually to support public education in Texas.

Among the retailer's annual education initiatives are Excellence in Education, which recognizes and awards more than $700,000 each year to teachers, principals and school districts; Read 3, a literacy program that has donated more than four million books to kids since 2011; and Buddy League, a program that promotes diversity and inclusion and discourages teasing and bullying.

Additionally, as one of the largest private funders of public education in Texas, the company has played a pivotal role in opening the Centers for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) network of schools to train the next generation with technology-based knowledge and skills.
