New Holland hay baler fully engulfed
FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas – On Thursday, July 29, around 1 p.m. Sheriff Keith Korenek reported the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Communications received a 9-1-1 call. The caller reported a hay baler fire on FM 1291, one mile south of U.S. Highway 290.
The Ledbetter Fire Department was notified about the call and responded to the scene. Sgt. Charles Jobb assisted with the response.
Upon arrival, the Ledbetter Fire Department reported the New Holland hay baler was fully engulfed. Responders requested assistance from the Carmine Fire Department, who also responded to the scene.
The fire was soon under control and put out by responders. The cause of the fire is believed to have started from an overheated bearing that ignited hay in the baler.
