Nazareth Academy School hosting 19th annual fishing tournament fundraiser
Since its inception, the fundraiser has brought in over $890,000 for the school
VICTORIA, Texas – The Nazareth Academy School is partnering with the Holy Family Knights of Columbus Council for their 19th annual Readin’, Ritten’, and Reelin’ fishing tournament to be held August 6 and 7 in Port O’Connor.
All proceeds from the fishing fundraiser go directly to the school, which helps fund essential upgrades to the school’s technology. One item on the docket for technology improvements is to phase out the old smart boards and replace them with newer interactive boards.
We spoke with Sister Ann Meletio, the Business Manager at the school, and Fred Kubesh with the Knights of Columbus on how important this fundraiser is to the school.
“This is actually going to be the 19th year we sponsored in helping Nazareth Academy, work together, and I think over those 19 years we were able to raise in excess of about $890,000. That’s been a good amount”, said Kubesh.
It’s $65 per person to enter the fishing tournament, which includes 2 meal tickets, and kids are free. Since it is bay fishing, expect to catch trout, flounder, and redfish.
There will also be a BBQ dinner and fish fry, with meal tickets going for $9, as well as a live and silent auction with a variety of trips, handmade items, and homemade treats up for bids.
